2013 FALL TV SCHEDULE

FALL TV SCHEDULE

Even if you follow a television show religiously, there will be times during which you will have to skip a particular episode because of a time conflict due to a prior obligation. You might have to stay late at the office to meet an important deadline for a project. You might have to study for an exam the following morning. Or you might simply just have an event that you rather attend with some friends or family. Perhaps just a few years ago, you would have to decide between watching your show or fulfilling your responsibility, but today, with DVR or digital video recording, you can easily do both!

Satellite television has an extensive selection of many different programs that definitely engage your interest. From all major network programming to exciting new cable channels, there wont be a time, during which you will be bored of television with this cable service. You can also enjoy the many sports game that is televised with this service. In fact, many people subscribe specifically to satellite cable for its great coverage of basketball, football, and baseball, among other athletic events. With so much to watch, it can be difficult to find the time to actually sit down and actually enjoy these TV programs.

With digital video recording, you can easily record all the shows and programs that you want to watch but might not have time to, given busy schedules and prior obligations. If it is something that you have to do, you cannot choose watching a reality television show over fulfilling your responsibility. However, DVR lets you record these shows so that you can enjoy them on your own time, perhaps after your engagement or during the weekend. In fact, rather than just record shows that you watch regularly, you can even record shows that might interest you or documentaries and movies that seem engaging. That way, during times when there is absolutely nothing that interests you on the television, you can go back to the pre-recorded programs.

With DVR, you get the same HD quality of viewing that you get when you watch these programs during the original airdate. For most major network shows, you can find the latest few episodes on their website, so even if you miss a particular episode, you wont fall behind on your television series. However, the quality of the show does not compare with that of satellite cable when you are watching your favorite series. DVR maintains the clarity of the viewing and thus, it ensures you get the same quality experience watching the show even though you have to miss it during its original airdate.

For many people, watching television and escaping into the dramatic and glamorous lives of these individuals on television serves as a great escape. With satellite television and DVR, you can enjoy all these great programs even if you have a busy schedule with work, school, or the family. You get to choose when to watch your shows rather than follow the times of the major networks.

With cable and satellite companies increasing the amount of High-Definition content they are offering to their subscribers, many people are deciding that now is a good time to think about replacing their old picture-tube televisions with a new flat-panel plasma television set.

When viewing a plasma TV, the first thing you will notice is the incredible high-resolution clarity of the picture. Available in resolutions from 720p, best for smaller TVs where the resolution is not as obvious, to 1080P, the highest resolution currently available, there is a plasma screen for nearly every budget. If you wish to take advantage of true HD programming, make sure your plasma TV is HD compatible. Some plasma television models are actually EDTVs, or “Enhanced-Definition Televisions”, which boast a higher degree of resolution and clarity than standard picture-tube sets, but do not have the resolution of a true HD compatible plasma television set.

Plasma TVs are also much lighter and thinner than traditional TVs. Typically only a few inches thick and less than half the weight of a similarly-sized analog television, A plasma television can free-up valuable floor-space and be mounted on a wall since they lack a traditional, bulky picture-tube.

The number of colors displayed by plasma televisions approaches 17 million, more than the human eye can distinguish, and with a higher contrast ratio, blacks are deeper and darker. The image also does not blur during fast-moving sports or action scenes, due to their fast screen refresh time and lack of phosphor lag (the time it takes for the pixels in the screen to change color and brightness as an image moves across the screen).

LCD screens still suffer from motion blurring, however, as LCD technology was originally intended for reading motionless text on a computer screen.

Though both are quickly dropping in price, a plasma television is usually less expensive than an LCD television of a comparable size, particularly when comparing models with larger screen sizes.

If there are multiple television viewers in your household, plasma is the way to go. With larger screen sizes available than LCD televisions, generally 37-65 inches as opposed to LCDs offering of 17-56 inches, you can watch TV from farther away and more closely approximate the movie theater experience. Flat-screen plasma TVs also have a wider viewing angle, ranging from 160-180 degrees with no degradation in color and image clarity, making plasma TVs ideal for multiple viewers.

Imagine surfing the net, doing computer work or even playing games on your television from the comfort of your sofa. Internet connectivity is a feature supported by plasma television technology, and some newer models are even internet ready, allowing you to connect your plasma TV to your computer and use that enormous, crystal-clear screen as a monitor.

The purchase of a high-definition, flat-screen plasma television is made more attractive than ever these days with the growing amount of HD programming made available by cable and satellite companies to their subscribers. A plasma television is the crown jewel in any home theater system with its unsurpassed picture clarity and resolution, millions of colors and falling prices. Start shopping today!

Scheduling quiet time isn’t easy for busy moms. I find that a lot of the time I don’t even have the time to sit down and schedule my quiet time. Sound familiar?

Finding a few moments to yourself is difficult whether you’re a working mom or a stay-at-home mom. As a working mom, I get up early, go to work, come home and make dinner, watch a little television, and go to bed. In the morning I’m always in a rush to get up and get everyone out the door, and in the evening I’m too tired to think let alone accomplish anything productive.

I recently realized that at least a whole year had gone by since I’d spent any length of time reading my Bible. Sure, I sit in church every Sunday and can’t resist all the great books coming out by Christian writers (which I always seem to find the time to read), but I just couldn’t find the time to just pick up my Bible and read.

What finally did it for me was watching my teenage daughter faithfully reading her Bible every day and excitedly writing down in her journal what the Lord had revealed to her through His Word day after day. After awhile I just couldn’t take it any more and knew that something was going to have to change. My competitive spirit finally got the best of me.

This year I resolved to read through the entire Bible by the end of the year. I sit down and read a couple chapters a day, sometimes more and sometimes less. I haven’t quite got into the journaling part of it yet like some people do, but I do quietly contemplate what the Lord has to say to me that day.

What always trips me up is my promises to myself to “read every day”, or “read for a certain amount of time every day”, or “read at a certain time every day.” As soon as I set up those guidelines for myself, I have set myself up to fail.

It turns into a battle with my will, which I’m well aware is a self-discipline issue, but old habits die hard.

I’ve found that if I miss a day I don’t worry about it. I just pick it up the next day. Sometimes I squeeze in my quiet time at lunch time and sometimes I wait until bed time. I know a lot of people like to get up early, before the rest of the family, to have their quiet time and start their day off right, but I just haven’t got to the point where I can get up earlier and focus on the things at hand. Maybe in time that will change.

Maybe you need to spend your quiet time praying and spending time in the Lord’s presence. When something’s on my mind or the Lord has put a burden on my heart, often I will just sit quietly and pray. Often the feeling will last for several days and will continue to be the focus of my quiet time.

If you ever feel yourself drifting off on your own and not quite connected with the Lord the way you should be, spend some time alone with Him and see what message He might have for you. Just pray quietly, and open His Word, and He will be right there just waiting for you to call on Him.

Whether it’s in the car, or while you’re cooking or doing laundry, or getting ready to fall into bed, find some time to talk with the Lord today. Find your quiet time. And don’t forget that your kids are watching everything you do. If they see your desire to connect with the Lord then chances are they will want to too.
